Our fundraising efforts this past year consisted of the Pancake Supper in February, the Spring Rummage Sale in March, Mother’s Tea Day, Bazaar, Bake Sale and Plant Sale in May, the Fall Rummage Sale in August and the Christmas Bazaar, Tea, Bake Sale and White Elephant Sale in November.  This was the first year that we ran our Rummage Sales for two consecutive Saturdays.  This provided further opportunities for customers to attend and it resulted in increased sales.  We were also very pleased to be able to provide the lunch for Bob Trotter’s memorial.

Our fundraising efforts made it possible for us to provide financial assistance in the following ways:

  • $100.00 to Sturgeon County Sponsor A Child.
  • $400.00 to the Bissell Centre to allow inner city families to attend summer camp.
  • $500.00 to the Canadian Red Cross to assist with the Fort McMurray evacuation.
  • $500.00 in PC gift cards to the Bon Accord/Gibbons Food Bank to feed children who come to school without lunch.
  • $500.00 in PC gift cards to the Bissell Centre.
  • $100.00 in PC gift cards to WIN House.
  • $100.00 in PC gift cards to Bon Accord/Gibbons Food Bank.
  • $100.00 in PC gift cards to Mustard Seed.
  • $300.00 in PC gift cards to YESS.
  • $100.00 to St. Stephen’s College.
  • $100.00 to St. Andrew’s College.
  • $100.00 to Christian Blind Mission International.
  • $100.00 to Angola Scholarship Fund.
  • $1,000.00 to Mission & Service.
  • $3,500.00 to the Coronado United Church
  • $1,350.00 in Good Neighbor assistance

In addition, we were able to provide breakfast prior to the worship service on Camp Weekend and helped celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary with the presentation of a gift card.  Books, puzzles and games were selected from donated rummage and were given to Spruce View Manor.  Other items were selected and sent to Bissell Centre and WIN House.  A donation of items to the Guthrie School was also made to be used at their Christmas Store.   Numerous greeting cards were sent throughout the year as well as flowers and fruit baskets.  At each meeting the members in attendance donated $3.00 which will be used to purchase bus tickets for the clients of YESS.   We also made a donation to the Memorial Fund in memory of Betty Hofs.

We were deeply saddened to lose Peggy Moore this past year after a lengthy illness.  Her presence will be greatly missed.  She was a very dedicated member.

Please mark your calendars with the following dates for our 2017 events:

Although we are a small group of eight members we manage to accomplish a great deal thanks in large part to the wonderful volunteers from the church and the community who faithfully assist us at all our events.  Thank you to all those who gave of your time and talent to work together to make each event a success.
